Genovese Basil

I know that I have not posted in a while but I have been busy getting all of my seeds planted.  I did not plant all of the seeds at once but I am finally finished planting all of the seeds that I ordered.  Can you believe I even went to Lowe's and got more during the whole planting process?  I have always planted sweet basil and loved the results but before placing my order with Burpee I took alot of time out to read the reviews about each item that I ordered.  After reading the comments for genovese basil, I definitely wanted to try it out since I love pesto.  Some of the comments and reviews stated that it was best basil for Italian pesto and very easy to grow therefore I wanted to plant some just to see if there was a big difference.  Although I have not made any basil this year, take a look at my plant so far:

I only recently planted the basil and it has grown the biggest thus far.  This basil has excellent germination.  In as little as 3-4 days the seedlings were emerging from the soil.
Whether you are a green thumb or not these seeds are definitely a "must try" and here is an excellent recipe for pesto from an earlier post:

Remember with basil in order to encourage growth pick the leaves quite often but do not allow to flower because they will lose some of their flavor and even become bitter.
Happy Gardening!
